How to use essential oils

Since they are such strong oils, improper use of essential oils can irritate the skin and increase swelling.

It is essential that an essential oil be diluted with a carrier oil before applying it topically, and although carrier oils may absorb some of the effectiveness of the essential oil, they do not interfere with its therapeutic properties.

Examples of our carrier oils are coconut oil,  olive oil , argan oil and more.

Use at least 6 teaspoons of carrier oil for every 15 drops of essential oil.

Fill the mixture in a special bottle

To apply the oil topically, prepare the mixture and fill it with a special bottle. It is possible to use small bottles that have a rotating ball in their upper opening, as they allow you to easily apply the oil locally.

Use it for massage

If topical application is not enough, oils can be used for massage, as they penetrate deep under the skin to relieve pain, swelling, and tension.

Just be sure to dilute the oils before applying.

Add the oil to the bathtub

An essential oil bath is  a rich and luxurious way to relieve and soothe stiff muscles.

Simply add 10 to 12 drops of essential oil to 6 tablespoons of carrier oil, then put the mixture in your bathtub and relax in it.

Add the oil to a cold or warm compress

Compresses are known to relieve pain, inflammation, and swelling. You can enhance these effects by adding the essential oil of your choice to the cloth.

To make an essential oil compress:

Cold water is usually used to soothe inflammation, while hot water is used to relieve pain. Put cold or hot water in a bowl, and then add the diluted oil to it.

Immerse the towel until it is completely wet with the mixture.

Gently squeeze out the excess water, then place the towel over the affected area.

Leave the towel for 15 minutes.

Reapply the towel as needed throughout the day.

Possible side effects and risks

According to  Medical News Today , some people may experience side effects from using essential oils, including:

Irritation and burning : Always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil before applying them to the skin. Also, apply a small amount of the mixture to a small area of the skin, to see if you have an allergic reaction before applying to the affected area, in order to avoid irritation and burning.

Asthma attacks : While it is safe to inhale essential oils for most people, they may increase the risk of attacks for those with asthma.
